Coping with Covid
So we all are familiar with covid-19 by now right? The one that caused the dreaded quarantine, the one that shut down the world. What a funny-scary experience am I right? Like, imagine one day everything got suspended for what they said was a week which turned into 2 then suddenly a year! It was such a surreal experience for every one of us. I’m sure we all had a couple of weird experiences and ways of coping with Covid-19, the following are mine!
When the pandemic first started I thought it was going to end when the next school year was coming along, so I wasn’t really worried and treated it like any other school break…. It didn’t stop and we got modular learning... Modular learning wasn’t all that an issue for me at the start to be honest, well until I go to Week 5-6 when they introduced the projects with tight deadlines. I got so stressed when I got tasked to complete 3 projects in 2 weeks along with the weekly homework, it was a nightmare for me. I still remember this particular time when I rushed my projects and modules in around a day or so, it was quite a bit of workload, I remember being so stressed that I think I walked half a kilometer pacing around my room thinking about how I got to this point, just berating my past self of why I didn’t do my homework, it was like hell. Thankfully I managed it and passed it just in time, felt so relieved it was the best feeling ever! As for my coping mechanism, It’s games and reading; I enjoy the gritty nature of the games, and I also love getting sucked into their narrative, as for reading I particularly enjoy manga and manhwa I love getting sucked in its story, I love watching the cast grow, it’s really a great past time. ! My mother also helped me a lot during this time, she taught me about cooking, deboning a chicken breast, grilling chicken, etc. I’m really thankful she was always there, I love her a lot!
Think this Quarantine was an interesting experience with many highs and lows. I learned a lot about myself for example I like reading and cooking is really satisfying. I also learned how to manage my stress levels by exercising, playing games, washing dishes, etc. I also made a lot of connections online which is useful for note sharing and subject tutoring. With all of that, I managed to get through those hard time. Thanks to new found hobbies and online connections to learn from, I PASSED!!!
