Change Starts Within

Image
Change will only begin when you yourself take the initiative. If you insist on changing, take the initiative. Do not rely on others to start your own change. Blindly relying on others to change you if you do not want to change yourself is a futile endeavor. Initiate your change with you. Changing yourselves is a hard topic to tackle. Although there are rough guidelines you can follow, it doesn't necessarily guarantee a successful change. It all really boils down to motivation, what keeps you going. Motivation is such a nuanced subject as it's really hard to acquire an adequate amount for your goals. Motivation combined with Willpower is very important in achieving your goal. I could not stress this enough. Without an adequate amount, you will only laze around trying to accomplish your goals. Try and acquire some Motivation and Willpower, I assure you, this will assist you with your goals of changing yourself. To transform oneself, it is important to follow a general guideline a...

Labor Day

Image
How do you celebrate Labor Day? Are you aware of the history of this holiday? For many of us, it's simply just another holiday with a day off. Not knowing of the historical protests to establish this holiday. Let us learn about this holiday that seemingly has lost its meaning to the recent generation. In April 1903, Dr. Dominador Gomez, the nephew of Father Mariano Gomez, led UODF (Union Obrera Democratica de Filipinas) to a meeting with then-governor William H. Taft in MalacaƱang. In the said meeting, UODF had made it clear that they wanted May 1 to be recognized as Labor Day. Unfortunately, no resolution came to the meeting. Due to the denial of UODF's proposition to organize, on May 1, 1903, Under Gomez, the UODF mobilized roughly 100,000 workers to protest against unjust employment practices, capitalism, and American imperialism. The workers marched from Plaza Moriones in Tondo onto MalacaƱang grounds to demand fair wages and parity under American rule. After the whole orde...

Contemplation of the Past

New topics taught to me, different perspectives I've been exposed to, new ways of learning I've never dabbled in before, new projects to have fun with... Can you believe that 3 months have already passed? Can you believe we're already entering the last quarter of this school year? It feels as if it was just yesterday that I first entered this school, time really does fly by so fast. As I reflect upon these past few months, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable experiences and personal development that have unfolded along this humble journey of mine. It has been 3 fulfilling and grueling months and I still haven't improved my bad habits all that much. Even though this was the case I have improved some of my strengths. Thanks to the CBR web design project Ma'am gave us, I have improved my CSS skills and problem-solving skills. It was fun learning about new ways and improved ways to manipulate the canvas called a webpage with 2 markup languages, HTML and CSS, a...

High School Milestone day

Image
It was the 121st celebration of high school day. After two years of delay, it is finally back. The school has overcome all the obstacles that COVID-19 created and finally resumed its events. Although I didn't attend the event, I do know the layout of the event. Let me walk you through the layout of the events.   There are 3 main parts to this event: the first part, Church services, followed by a 1-hour break, then the second part, the main part of the event. This is where they introduce the guest speaker and award teachers and such. Also in this part, the top 3 winners of the G10 hip-hop dance competition will perform an intervention. After this is a lunch break, which is followed by the last and third part of the event, the field demo. This is the part where students dance in the field. G7, G8, with their respective grade dances, and G10 students who will perform ‘Galaw Pilipinas’ (7 representatives per section). This is also the part where teachers play traditional Filipin...

Holy Week Schedule

Image
Holy Week is the most sacred week in the liturgical year in Christianity. Due to this, we had a long weekend vacation. As I’m not Christian, I didn’t attend any churches for masses and such. So instead, I will be telling you about what I did during the school breaks as a non-Christian. Fair warning, it is boring and repetitious.   On Tuesday evening, the start of our break (because we weren’t required to attend tomorrow), I stayed up until 11 pm watching videos in the dark because it’s calming. The next day I woke up at around 8 a.m., had some coffee, booted up my computer, and tried to learn about some new software I’ve been meaning to use, ‘eww'. After that, I cooked some chicken breast for lunch, workout’d out, and showered. Then I prepared my copies of the song for church and went to church. After church back to learning coding, but c++ this time, couldn’t get my mind around it. Then I slept at 12 a.m. I pretty much repeated this entire routine the entire break, minus th...
