Commemorating Women

Image
Every year in March, there is a celebration known as Women's National Month. It's a good moment to consider what women have contributed to society historically and currently. The holiday inspires women to follow their passions, thrive in their careers, and remove obstacles to gender equality. The need to recognize the challenges that women still encounter in our society today, such as the gender pay gap, sexual harassment, and discrimination, is also highlighted by Women's National Month. By understanding these concerns, we can strive towards establishing a more just and equal environment for everyone, regardless of one’s gender.   Despite significant progress, women still face discrimination and barriers in various aspects of their lives. These challenges include but are not limited to the gender wage gap, gender-based violence, and inadequate representation in leadership positions. Women’s National Month is a vital opportunity to recognize and bring attention to the...

Valentines' Day: The day of hearts and extortion

Image
Valentines' Day, is a day full of love. A day when you can show your love through outrageously markup items. A day took over by big corporate companies. A day when companies take advantage of your love. A capitalist’s dream! In order to sell pricey goods designed for the romantic holiday, huge firms now take advantage of people's emotions on Valentine's Day. Businesses spend a lot of money on advertising, which puts pressure on consumers to purchase pricey gifts as a sign of their affection. This perfectly embodies the ideals of capitalism. It is essential for customers to be aware of commercialization and restrain their expenditure. Love shouldn't be evaluated based on how much anything costs. Simple acts of affection like exchanging handwritten notes or spending time together work well. Genuine acts of affection, intimate deeds, and deep ties should take precedence above commercial considerations. By doing this, we may revive the original essence of love and give ours...

Kannawidan: A Cultural Foundation

Image
Culture is an integral part of a specific location, serving as a foundation for individual distinctiveness and identity. These aspects are inherited from ancestors and passed down through generations. Among the provinces, Ilocos Sur stands out for its exceptionally rich history and culture. The present generation strives to sustain the legacy of their predecessors by commemorating and celebrating their history, ensuring that the story of Ilocos Sur is deeply engraved in the hearts, souls, and minds of every Ilokano. Kannawidan is a significant festival in Ilocos Sur, often overlooked as merely a provincial celebration. However, upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that it holds greater importance than mere festivity. In recent years, the world has become increasingly globalized, leading to the blending of beliefs and the emergence of multicultural societies. The absence of events that embed our cultural heritage can result in a loss of regional identity and diverse society, era...

Cultural Richness of Vigan City

Vigan City boasts a long and illustrious history, with a wealth of cultural heritage. Annually, the city holds various festivals, with the Vigan City Fiesta being one (1) of the four (4) major festivals of Vigan City. The festival this year aims to highlight the city's distinct cultural background and educate the public about its rich history. Education night is one of its events and will be my blog's topic today. I hope you enjoy my blogging!  I got there around 7:50, meet up with friends, and went to the event. The Event started at around 8-8:20 pm. The Event kickstarted off with an Opening speech and after this, The Teachers' performances.    After these, the Teacher's got talent. Rumination

As another quarter draw to a close, good and bad memories come to mind. A whole lot happened to me. Plenty of good and bad, extracurriculars clashed with my schedule. This quarter certainly forced me to swallow hard-to-swallow pills. I have plenty to share. I had a difficult time balancing my extracurricular activities with my academics this quarter. Unfortunately, my poor quiz and test marks were a result of my bad time management. I want to get better at managing my time and work on this area. I also want to lessen my propensity to put things off. On the positive side, I love ICT’s recent topics. My curiosity in coding was reignited by this, and I was motivated to build a website, albeit a bad one. I even got the chance to experiment with operating systems, such as dual booting Arch Linux and Windows 11. Overall a great quarter. It was filled with fun memories and a lot of not-so-pleasant ones. It taught me plenty of valuable lessons that I will hopefully improve going into the...
